[Scott’s Morning Brew] Funny Kerry Video from NRSC
[Scott’s Morning Brew] Pelosi out of touch with reality…
It would be funny if it wasn’t so frequent, but a big backhand to Tom Holden of the Pilot.
Somehow, key facts were missing in his story about the recent CNU Poll on transportation.
The things not reported are right in the first paragraph of CNU’s press release about the poll. So, either they were purposefully […]
[Virginia Virtucon] Corey Stewart Sets The Record Straight
As we noted before, PWC actually enhanced its crackdown on illegal aliens last night. Now, PWC Chairman Corey Stewart has issued the following email statement:
As reported in today’s edition of the Washington Times, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors voted unanimously last night to strengthen and expand its crackdown on illegal immigration. See the […]
He told all Operation Chaos personnel (including in North Carolina) to vote for Clinton (Politico).
If she wins North Carolina, this may very well have won her the nomination.
Yes, you read that right; be ready.
[The right-wing liberal] This is an abomination
Did you know the Pentagon (and everyone else in government) can’t use Albertan oil?
It’s true (Arab News, via The Corner):
In an interesting tussle, a virtually unnoticed clause was added almost at the least moment to a US energy bill that bars the government, in particular the Department of Defense, from using Alberta crude because it […]
The new numbers for Gross Domestic Product (econ-speak for “the economy”) are out, and it turns out the recession that supposedly descended upon us over the last six months actually didn’t happen (Associated Press via Yahoo, h/t Shaun Kenney):
The bruised economy limped through the first quarter, growing at just a 0.6 percent pace as housing […]
The U.S. economy grew by .6 percent last quarter, as it did in the previous quarter, without the benefit of those silly stimulus checks. This means that the country is not sufferring a recession, which occurs when the economy shrinks for two consecuti…

[The right-wing liberal] Two different papers, two different Prince Williams?
Thanks to Riley at Virginia Virtucon for catching this dichotomy in the newspapers that serve the nation’s capital.
Here’s the Washington Post:
Pr. William Softens Policy on Immigration Status Checks
The Prince William County supervisors abolished a key part of the county’s illegal-immigration policy last night by directing police officers to question criminal suspects about their immigration status […]
[Virginia Virtucon] Tom Davis, Alberta, and Saudi Arabia
Congressman Tom Davis (VA-11) has added a clause to the energy bill Congress is currently considering. This clause would prevent the US from importing oil from the Alberta oil sands. Instead, oil will have to come from other, less friendly, countries.

Attorney General Bob McDonnell and Lt. Governor Bill Bolling appear to have next year’s big race well in hand. Check out this post at Bearing Drift, complete with a podcast of AG McDonnell. Virginia’s Republican congressional delegation, Virginia’s party leadership, etc. have all strongly endorsed McDonnell for Governor and Bill Bolling for Lt. Governor.
Photo details: […]
[The right-wing liberal] Mr. McDonnell, please do not succumb to Kilgorism
Today is a good day for Bob McDonnell and Bill Bolling - no doubt of that. They won the endorsement of nearly every well-known Republican in the state for 2009 (Bearing Drift, Scott’s Morning Brew, and Virginia Virtucon). Still, as soon as I saw it, a cold shiver went down my spine, and nothing in […]
Looks like you won’t have to.
FOX will air a 2-hour “24″ telemovie set in Africa this fall. And then there is the online spin-off of “24,” “The Rookie.“ Check out what CNN has to say about it.
[Scott’s Morning Brew] Company owner sentenced to JAIL and fined for hiring illegal aliens
The illegal immigration fiasco is a matter of supply and demand. If we make the "demand" so costly to employers, the required supply will go down.
NORFOLK - The vice president of a Newport News fishing company was sentenced today to 90 days in prison on top of nearly $7 million in fines and forfeitures […]
[Virginia Virtucon] Justice Souter Disappoints…Again
On Monday, the Supreme Court ok’d state laws requiring a photo id at the polling booth by a 6-3 decision. For most of America, this is a no-brainer. But, not for Justice Souter.
Justices Stephen Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and David Souter dissented. Indiana’s voter ID law ‘‘threatens to impose nontrivial burdens on the voting rights […]
[Scott’s Morning Brew] Memo to Rev. Wright: Do Souls Have Colors?
Great opinion piece by John Moody of Fox News:
Let’s be clear: Reverend Wright has the right to say what he wants; that is the beauty of this country that he believes has so wronged him. His remarks are protected, even if they offend me, which they do. I, too, have rights, including the right to […]
[ShaunKenney.com] GDP? Up by 0.6%
The American economy grew ever so slightly during 1st Qtr 2008, which is moderately good news. The skies aren’t so grey after all.
There has been discussion in various places over what the changes the Prince William BOCS made to their anti-illegal immigration policy really mean, most spurred by the incorrect headline in today’s WashPo.
Well, here’s a brief run down:
Before — only after probable cause was established could someone who was arrested be questioned on their immigration status.
Now […]
[Virginia Virtucon] WashPo Gets It Wrong on PWC Anti-Illegal Immigration Changes
After reading the WashPo’s coverage this morning of changes in the Prince William County anti-illegal immigration policy, I was ready to blow a gasket. Their headline, “Pr. William Softens Policy on Immigration Status Checks” and ensuing spin:
The Prince William County supervisors abolished a key part of the county’s illegal-immigration policy last night by directing police officers […]

[Scott’s Morning Brew] Bobby Jindal - The GOP Boilerplate
Boilerplate is any text that is or can be reused in new contexts or applications without being changed much from the original. Many computer programmers often use the term boilerplate code. A legal boilerplate is a standard provision in a contract.
Too Conservative had a post up this morning about this video and wonders if this […]
