Just returned from Richmond, and after a few hours of recovery, I’m organizing my thoughts on this weekend’s gathering. Because I was able to get a last-minute reservation at the Marriott, we went down on Friday afternoon. Arrived too late for registra…

[SkepticalObservor] State GOP Convention Observations — The Preliminaries
The Democrat Party chose to eschew principle altogether today, reaching what should go down in infamy as the one-half compromise. Party officials said a committee agreed to seat Michigan and Florida delegates with half-votes. This craven compromise b…
[Leslie Carbone] BREAKING: Obama Leaving TUCC
Barack Obama has announced his resignation from Trinity United Church of Christ.
[Virginia Virtucon] Who Will Be The Next 52nd Dist. Delegate?
With Del. Jeff Frederick’s (R-52 Dist.) win in the race for RPV Chairman and his pledge not to seek reelection in 2009 if he won, would-be candidates are beginning to line up for Jeff’s House seat. We’re hearing that one has gotten out ahead of the pack, though. Chris Royse, the 2007 GOP candidate for […]
Throughout the campaign for RPV Chairman, it was clear that Del. Jeff Frederick had the better answers to questions put to both he and Lt. Gov. John Hager on what their vision was for the party and where they wanted to lead it. Having known Jeff since 2000 when we were both in the newly-reinvigorated […]

Congratulations, Jeff! (I think.)
John Hager conceded.
That’s all I know. Except for it’s crazy loud at the convention and that if you ever need to borrow a cell phone, ask Jim Gilmore’s son, Ashley.
Thanks, Ashley! (I think.)
Jeff Frederick is the Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia
Instead of being in Richmond this weekend having a big time with my fellow political bloggers at the RPV convention, I’m home hearing about it via borrowed cell phones. Seems most bloggers batteries gave out before the convention started. Business matters kept me in Martinsville but at least I have WiFi!
Anyway, I’ve just been informed […]
Jim Gilmore is the Republican nominee for Senate.
11:13am - Cantor nominating Gilmore.
We know and trust Gilmore because he keeps his promises. Promised more teachers, 250k new jobs, to cut the car tax, and he kept his word.
Gilmore crowd cheers as Cantor wraps up. Strong showing.
Thelma Drake seconds.
Will cut taxes and help strengthen America’s economy.
Scott Ligamfelter, Rob Stuber, Chuck Smith, and […]
Other’s live-blogging the convention: Virginia Virtucon, Crystal Clear Conservative, James Martin at Raising Kaine, and Rick Sincere
“This red state will stay red!” Bolling really got the crowd going.
Apparently in order to wave signs, you have to have a special credential. A free speech zone?
Del Cosgrove sang “Proud to be an American”…very cool.
10:42 a.m.: […]
RPV had an interesting set-up for the media to begin the day for the media, but …
[Virginia Virtucon] Obama’s “Moral Compass” Chastised by Church
Close Barry Obama friend of 20 years, Father Michael Pfleger, whom Obama himself has described as his “moral compass,” has been chastised by Cardinal Francis George of the Archdiocese of Chicago.
“The Catholic Church does not endorse political candidates. Consequently, while a priest must speak to political issues that are also moral, he may not endorse candidates […]

[Rick Sincere News and Thoughts] Protesters Object to Cheney Visit
Vice President Dick Cheney was the featured speaker at Friday’s Republican Party gala in Richmond. His presence in the state capital did not go unnoticed by the anti-war crowd. A small number of protesters gathered at the corner of Fifth and Broad Stre…
[Rick Sincere News and Thoughts] More from the 2008 RPV Convention
It was mostly food, drink, and conviviality tonight at the Republican Party of Virginia’s 2008 convention, which tomorrow gets down to serious business and the nomination of a U.S. Senate candidate as well as the election of a new party chairman.Hospit…
As promised, coffee, chocolate, and good times at The Jeffersoniads hospitality suite at the RPV Convention, May 30, 2008. In this photo it was late, and the room was beginning to clear. A lot of people dropped by, including Congresswoman Thelma Drake, congressional hopeful Amit Singh, a lot of bloggers, and others.
Thanks to sponsors Rhumb […]
Too tired to blog much, but here are two pictures from Vice-President Dick Cheney’s speech at the RPV Gala on Friday, May 30. You rarely get to see Cheney speak on TV, and this was by far the most I had heard from him. The Times-Dispatch has an article up, with a slideshow. The Washington […]
Tomorrow is moving day. I go and get the truck first thing in the morning and pack everything up to move a whole three miles.
I honestly think I would rather move across country than across town. Just seems easier.
In any case, tonight is the last night in this house, tomorrow we will be in the […]SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: “Off the "air" for a day or so”, url: “http://www.scottsmb.com/2008/05/30/off-the-air-for-a-day-or-so/” });
To be honest, there’s not much to report from the Republican Party of Virginia state convention in Richmond.I arrived after the registration table had closed, so I am a man without identification. Many delegates are stuck in the main ballroom of the c…
[On The Spot] Gilmore Exposed on his Social Policies in Newspaper

[The right-wing liberal] My choices at the convention (shouldn’t be surprising by now)
Tomorrow morning, I will drive down to Richmond to participate in the Virginia Republican convention. It will be my first in fourteen years, and I’m looking forward to see old friends, including many in the blogosphere.
For those readers who will join me, but are still unsure as for whom they will vote, I will offer […]
Former Deer in the Headlights WH Press Secretary Scott McClellan has been taken to the wood shed by Former Senator Bob Dole.
From CNN
“You’re a miserable creature.”
I have to agree with Senator Dole on the email. Scott McClellan is chasing a cash cow with his book. McClellan was probably one of the worst WH Press Secretaries […]
[Rappahannock Red] Gilmore’s Flawed Social Policies Exposed in Newspaper Interview
From the Free Lance-Star:
“In a nearly hour-long interview in his campaign consultant’s Richmond office last week, Gilmore talked about social issues only when asked, saying that he has “shown a record of being concerned” about pro-life and pro-family topics. But what he really wants to talk about is gas prices, energy and taxes.”
“Gilmore has advocated […]
