State Senator Frank Wagner has made his move in the 2017 Virginia gubernatorial race, and the knife is pointed directly at Prince William County chairman Corey Stewart.
To wit, Wagner issued the following statement:
Frank Wagner is the ONLY candidate who has the experience in Richmond to be Virginia’s Governor. He is the ONLY Republican candidate who served in our Armed Forces, the ONLY candidate raised in Virginia, the ONLY candidate for Governor who has actually started and built businesses in Virginia and the ONLY candidate selected as a Trump Campaign Co-Chair who wasn’t fired. True Republicans don’t shy away from our nominee.
No candidate for Governor can match Frank’s accomplishments for the people of Virginia. Remember, if you feel having real world experience in Richmond, being a military veteran in a state with over 800,000 veterans, raised in Virginia and an accomplished businessman employing hundreds of Virginians is important to being Governor of Virginia, then Frank Wagner is your ONE and ONLY choice for Governor of Virginia.
The shot against Stewart is just too delicious not to pass up, and will be a theme that will more than likely haunt his candidacy. Whether or not the rank and file blame him for that is entirely up to chance.
Wagner is clearly making a move with an electorate that by and large would share much of what he is campaigning on: small business growth, strength on defense, and a deep knowledge of the inner workings of state government.
More interesting? Wagner isn’t taking the wood to Gillespie or Wittman… but to Stewart.
