Former 7th District Chairman and longtime conservative Linwood Cobb is seriously weighing a run for HOD-72 being vacated by Delegate Jimmie Massie, according to sources.
Massie’s departure from the race was a surprise to many, Massie being rumored for a possible 2018 U.S. Senate run. Cobb’s introduction to the race would be an instant firestarter, as Cobb would not only be able to raise significant resources to carry his candidacy, but would find noted opposition within what remains of the Tea Party ranks.
Henrico GOP Chairman Eddie Whitlock has also made his intentions know about exploring a potential run in HOD-72, though one finds it difficult to see Whitlock and Cobb running against one another.
Nevertheless, Cobb’s entry into the race would prove interesting indeed, as Cobb already brings a series of state and national level contacts into the race at an instant — not to mention, an ability to raise a boatload of cash…
