Law professor and U.S. Army reservist Matt Pinsker is the first to file in HOD-56 in the race to replace Delegate Peter Ferrell, having gathered $11,000 in the first week of operations.

Pinsker graduated from the College of William & Mary and currently owns and operates a successful law firm. Pinsker followed in the footsteps of his father, a Lieutenant Colonel (retired) in the U.S, Army, who also lives in the greater Richmond area, when he was selected for the Army Judge Advocate Generals (JAG) Corps. In addition to serving in the Army Reserves and running a small business, he is an Adjunct Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University. A noted expert in homeland security, he has taught the subject since 2013 and has a textbook scheduled for publication by the prestigious Carolina Academic Press. Many of his students have gone on to serve in law enforcement and the military.
Former Louisa County Planning Commissioner and longtime conservative stalwart George Goodwin has already made his intentions know to run in HOD-56.
Louisa County attorney and 7th District Committee leader Graven Craig meanwhile has already made moves to make an aggressive push for consideration, having secured the duo of Steve Waters and Chris Shores as political consultants for the primary contest.
Pinsker’s website is still under development, but forthcoming — and with just enough information to get a sense of the man.
