The Richmond Times-Dispatch is reporting that Governor Terry McAuliffe is issuing a decree stating the Commonwealth of Virginia will abide by the international Paris Climate Agreement.

“As the first state in the Trump era to take executive action to limit carbon emissions and create clean energy jobs, Virginia is proud to join the U.S. Climate Alliance,” McAuliffe said in a statement. “President Trump’s announcement to withdraw the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement does not speak for the states and cities that are committed to fighting climate change and paving the way for a new energy economy. If the federal government insists on abdicating leadership on this issue, it will be up to the American people to step forward — and in Virginia we are doing just that.”

By whose authority?

Once again, McAuliffe demonstrates a contempt for Virginia seconded only by perhaps Lord Governor Dunmore — only this time, we have a Governor Dunless.

Meanwhile, our business climate has dropped from best in the nation to 14th, people are actually leaving Virginia, our factories shuttered, our rural schools emptying out… and McAuliffe is issuing decrees that drag 8 million Virginians into the modern equivalent of a secular religion.

Fine, but his days as governor are numbered. This in no way binds the next governor of Virginia.

True, however, things can get worse unless we all work hard to ensure our next governor is not

Northam or. Perriello it will take a big effort with all hands on deck.
